Hey y’all! How’s it going?
So today I’m here talk about the movies that I’m most looking forward this year. Yes I know we’re already a month into the new year; but I’ve only just looked at the movie releases. Besides, my list doesn’t even start until February so we’re just going to go with it. Anyway, let’s just get into the movies.
What Men Want – release date: Feb 8
The first movie that I’m really excited for is What Men Want. So all I know about this movie is that it’s a comedy that’s from the same producers as Girl’s Trip which is one of my all time favorite movies.
But I do think the gist of this movie is about a woman who is in a men dominated profession and is always on the outside. Then she becomes able to hear their thoughts and I’m really curious as to what’s going to happen in this movie. I really hope I love it as much as Girl’s Trip though.
Dumbo – Release date: March 29
The next movie that I’m excited to see is none other than Dumbo. I’m so excited to see this – the trailer looks fantastic and I’ve seen just about every other live action Disney movie.
Also Tim Burton directed this movie and really that’s all that I need to know. I’ve just almost all of his movies and I’ve seen a lot multiple times. Also, I think Eva Green is in this one and I love her as an actress.. I just have complete faith in him to do this movie well.
Pet Sementary – Release Date: April 5
So the first of the two Stephen King movies we’re getting this year is Pet Sementary. At this point, I’m going to assume that most of us know what Pet Sementary is about, so I don’t think I really need to do much explanation for what this one is about.
I, for one loved the original, so I’m intrigued to know how they’re going to do the remake. Truthfully, the trailer looks slightly weird to me but I am still curious enough and hopeful that it’ll be a good one.
Pokemon: Detective Pikachu – Release Date: May 10
So this next movie that I really want to see just kind of a joke. But the Pokemon loving, Pikachu obsessed child in me needs to see this movie.
Besides, I hear Ryan Reynolds is going to be the voice of Pikachu? And to be honest, I just have to see what that’s all about. With that, this movie also looks pretty interesting and also funny. So I’m curious.
Dark Pheonix – Release Date: June 7
Okay so if you know me, you’d know that I’m not a Marvel fan. Like at all. I don’t like the franchise or the obsessed fans who hate on superhero movies just because they’re not Marvel.
Although, while I’m not a marvel fan. I do love x-men and spider-man. I grew up in love with both of them (Aside from the last few x-men movies which I’ve been disappointed by) .So I’m curious as to see this movie. Especially the new take on Jean Grey and what Sophie Turner is going to do with her. Also it’s a female superhero movie, so I feel obligated to give it some love.
Men in Black: International – Release Date: June 14
Honestly, I don’t know why this movie is on this list. This franchise has been super fucking ridiculous. But that doesn’t mean that they haven’t been fun to watch.
They’re fun and entertaining to watch, and sometimes that’s all that you need from a movie. That coupled with Chris Hemsworth and a lady MIB? That’s really all I need to know going into this movie.
Child’s Play – Release Date: June 21
So I’m just going to be on a horror movie kick this year considering so many ones are coming out. The Chucky franchise was one of my top horror franchise so I’m intrigued and hesitant going into this one.
Although, I’m just going to go into it with low expectations and just see how it goes. Since this is a remake, it could go either way and the only way to know for sure, is to watch it and see.
Untitled Annabelle Sequel – Release Date – July 3
There isn’t even a title or an actual poster for this movie (and I’ve yet to watch The Nun) but I’m so excited for this one.
I have loved every other movie in this franchise and I’m excited to see another one. Especially since these movies actively scare the shit out of me and that’s what I look for in horror.
The Lion King – Release Date: July 19
So we all know that Disney is apparently doing this thing where they’re doing live action remakes of all their animated movies. But then there’s me, being the trash that I am, going to watch each and every one of them.
Truthfully, I’m just intrigued on how they’re going to do this one. But The Legend of Tarzan was pretty decent, so I’m hopeful that this one will be at least decent as well.
IT: Chapter 2 – Release Date: September 6
And finally, the second Stephen King movie we’re getting this year, is the sequel to IT. I’m super excited for this movie, especially since I enjoyed the first one so much.
It’s going to be interesting since the kids as adults in the sequel and seeing just how they’re going to tackle the story. They’ve already changed stuff from the book in the first movie (which I am so happy about) so I’m interested to see their take on them kids when they’re older.
So that’s going to be it for this post. These are all the movies that I am highly looking forward to this year. Are there any you’re anticipating as well? I’d love to know.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next one.
