Hey guys! So I said in my January Wrap up that I wanted to also talk about the movies I watched last month; but didn’t want to make that post longer than it needed to me. Instead, I’m writing this post where I ramble over the movies I watched. Truthfully they were all rewatches except for one; but I just really want to talk about them, so I’m making this post. Maybe I’ll do this every month, maybe not. It’ll just depend on how many movies I watch. Anyway, let’s just get into the movies that I watched.
Ellen DeGeneres Relatable
Well the first thing I watched wasn’t a movie; but I’m still going to talk about it because I loved it. That is none other than Ellen Degeneres: Relatable. Ellen’s comedy special on Netflix. So I was just scrolling through Netflix at the beginning of the movie, as one does, looking for something to watch and I stumbled on this. Of course, because I love Ellen I had to watch it.
I laughed so much during this special. It was just typical Ellen and was so much fun. If you watch and enjoy her talk show and are considering watching this, just jump the gun and do it. You will not regret it.
Stephen King’s IT
The next thing that I watched was IT. So since I finally finished the book at the beginning of the movie, I decided to watch the movie.
Holy shit y’all. This movie legitimately frightened me. Casting Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise was probably the greatest decision they could have made.
I of course was in a Tomb Raider mood this month so I rewatched it for like the millionth time since it’s came out.
I’m still just so in awe of this movie. I mean, yeah it’s cheesy at parts; but like it’s basically a treasure hunting based on a video game book. That’s to be expected. But I didn’t give a damn about any of the cheesiness. I was just so excited to see my favorite video game character of all time being brought to the big screen again.
Alicia did an amazing job bringing life to Lara. She was a great at showing Lara being the kickass heroine we know and love; but also brought in that vulnerability of someone just starting to come into her own. Hands down A+ casting.
My only fault with the movie, besides of the cheesiness, is the explanation for the storms and for Himiko. I just like it a whole lot more in the game – I felt like they dumbed it down a lot for the movie for a casual audience and it just annoys me. But that’s just a slight thing from someone who has played the game way too much and is just obsessed.
Prisoner of Azkaban
I also rewatched the Prisoner of Azkaban this month after I finished the book.
You know, once you start forgetting stuff from the books, you don’t realize just how much is actually cut from the book. You also don’t realize how quickly the story goes in the movie? Like I don’t know about anyone else; but watching it directly after finishing the book, it felt like they rushed the plot to get through the story quicker.
I took a walk through memory lane this month by watching The Incredibles.
Watching this movie, you can totally tell that it’s an early 2000s movie; but it still holds up perfectly fine. I just don’t think that this movie will ever get old.
This movie wins so many nostalgia points. Like oh my god. I was just so damn happy rewatching this. The story, the family dynamic, Edna Mode – just…honestly I don’t know how to talk about this movie without rambling about how much I love it. So…..
The Incredibles 2
Of course since I rewatched the first one, I had to also rewatch the sequel. And aside from the fact that we had to wait 14 years and I’m bitter about that, I’m still so happy with and in love with this movie. Well, I’m also salty that we had to wait 14 damn years and we still haven’t seen Honey.
Seeing Elastagirl being in charge in this movie was so damn amazing. Give me all the damn movies where women are in charge and taking names. Also the villain in this was A+ especially since it was pretty much a complete 180 of the one in the first movie and I really enjoyed that. Of course you can’t really much without spoiling but if you’ve seen the movie, you know what I mean.
I watched Zootopia for the zillionth time this month. Usually whenever I’m feeling down or sad, I put it on and it just immediately makes me happy.
Though this time I watched it while drunk and sent snapchat videos to my best friend.
Honestly, if you haven’t yet watched this movie (I don’t care how young or old you are) – then DO IT. Yeah this is technically a kid’s movie; but it’s one everyone can enjoy. Just the underlying messages in this movie should be enough to swing people to watch it. It deals with social standing/classes, racism, bullying and so much more in a fantastic way.
Well that’s all the movies and things that I watched in January! I hope y’all enjoyed this post. Have y’all seen any of these movies? If so, let me know in the comments down below. I’d love to know.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all in the next post (which may be my February TBR)
